Kingsley Eduwo Ends ES Sétif Deal by Mutual Consent
Algerian Ligue 1 side Entente de Sétif has officially confirmed that Kingsley Eduwo, former Super Eagles B striker, has mutually terminated his contract and is now a free agent. Eduwo had joined the club in January 2025 on a one-and a-half year deal. His release allows him to sign with a new club even after the close of the current transfer window.

The Nigerian forward began strongly, scoring three goals in his first six league games. However, he failed to score in his next seven outings and was absent from the final two matches of the season, prompting Sétif to include him among fourteen players released during a broader first-team overhaul.
Editorial
We see Eduwo’s contract termination as a clear decision by all parties to enable a fresh start one grounded in opportunity, not setback. The striker arrived with upward momentum and international pedigree, but when form stalled, it was in both his interest and the club’s to move on amicably.
His early scoring spree showed why Sétif pursued him. Yet football is unforgiving especially in top African leagues and goal droughts often force decisive action. While disappointing, the opens doors for both club renewal and Eduwo’s career reset.
At 29, Eduwo still offers value experience, versatility and historical significance. His time in Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Kuwait and Tunisia provides rich context for next steps should he return to domestic leagues, seek Middle East moves, or explore European clubs. Now unfettered by contract, he can weigh options without constraint.
This moment reminds us that freedom in football is not always about transfer fees or prestige. For Eduwo, this exit could be the pivot point toward a revitalised chapter one where performance, vision and fit define rather than contract duration.
